James Redford Institute for Transplant Awareness

James Redford waited six months for the donor liver that saved his life. After his surgery, he launched the James Redford Institute for Transplant Awareness (JRI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the public about the need for organ and tissue donation. Our goal is to raise awareness of this issue through film, educational outreach, and on the web.

Film has the power to reach millions and increase public support of organ donation. The James Redford Institute has produced three films. Among them, Flow, a touching depiction of an encounter between a donor family member and a recipient. We hope that by focusing on the emotional side of donation, we will encourage people to become organ donors and to share this decision with their families.
